It’s Summer, time for beaches, barbecues, and vacations. Acts 2 is going to be taking a break over the summer, and will start back in September. We’ll be updating the blog as well as Twitter, so you won’t be too far from your favorite Bible Study buds!
So, kick back, relax, and enjoy your Saturday nights. And we’ll see you all (officially) in September… although a cook-out MAY happen soon..
This Sunday is Mother’s Day. We all need to stop and take a moment to honor, love, and appreciate the amazing women that God has put into our lives. Mothers (and wives) are often under-appreciated, but their value is immeasurable.
An unknown author once wrote,
You were there when we took our first steps,
And went unsteadily across the floor.
You pushed and prodded: encouraged and guided,
Until our steps took us out the door… You worry now “Are they ok?” Is there more you could have done?
As we walk the paths of our unknown
You wonder”Where have my children gone?”
Where we are is where you have led us,
With your special love you showed us a way,
To believe in ourselves and the decisions we make.
Taking on the challenge of life day-to-day.
And where we go you can be sure,
In spirit you shall never be alone.
For where you are is what matters most to us,
Because to us that will always be home…
I hope that this year, we all stop and pay homage to these lovely, amazing women, Happy Mother’s Day!
Don’t forget, ACTS 2 is THIS Saturday at 6:00 pm!
FOOD THEME
This Saturday’s A2 we’ll
be featuring a
Mexican Food Theme, in honor of Cinco de Mayo.
Be creative!
Drunks, Napkins, Cups, Plates, and Utensils will be provided.
The Books of Acts
We’ll be jumping into studying the Book of Acts.
Written by Luke, the disciple, it’s main purpose was to give an account of the birth and growth of the First Century Christian church. It’s an amazing story and will be an amazing study. Make sure you come with your Bibles THIS SATURDAY!
“Stamp Out” Hunger
Don’t forget that A2 is joining the National Letter Carries in their national food drive.
Have you bags of food out by your mail box THIS SATURDAY!
I love each of you and cannot with to see you, it’s been a few weeks since we have ALL been together. I have been praying for you and I have seen God working in the lives of the A2 Posse, as well as the life of Acts2 Church.May the Lord bless you, and keep you, and make His face to shine upon you,and give you peace.
This Saturday, join with Acts2 and help Stamp Out Hunger. A2 is joining with the National Association of Letter Carriers as we collect non-perishable food items for those in need.
Donations will be collected by more than 1,400 local branches of the 300,000-member postal union and delivered to food banks, pantries and shelters that serve the communities where they are collected.
The 17th annual NALC National Food Drive to “Stamp Out Hunger” is the largest one-day food drive in the nation. Carriers collected a record 73.1 million pounds of food in last year’s drive.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
1. Put some non-perishable food items in a bag and place it by your mailbox.
2. Your letter carrier will pick it up and deliver to local food banks.
Dear John, Happy Cinco de Mayo! I hope that this finds you doing well. It’s been a wild couple of weeks for the Acts 2 Posse, and hopefully things will calm down for all of us.
I’m excited because we’re getting ready to launch into studying the Book of Acts. It’s going to be awesome to see how the early Christian Church began and grew. It will challenge and inspire us to continue to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world as the early Christ Followers did. In honor of Cinco de Mayo, we’ll be having a MEXICAN FOOD THEME for all the food items this Saturday – Drinks/Plates/Utensils will be provided!
Sarah-Irene, John’s wife, was able to get off work early, and attend her first A2 Gathering!
The reason she got off work early was because her Step-Mom and Dad were visiting! So in the last month and 1/2, A2 has had all of John and Sid’s parents visit…Wow, can you say Red Roof Inn?
Acts 2 was talking about Control and Fears and letting God have COMPLETE control.
We had really great discussions and God spoke through all of the group – really a good conversation.
A2 also spent some time worshiping, and Dave Ness, as usual, did an outstanding job accompanying our singing.
Of course there was food, lots of it, and it was all GREAT!!
