When you ask the question why do we deserve Grace, the answer that comes to mind first is we don't. But God says we deserve it if we are true followers and believers in his son Jesus Christ. It doesn't say you have to feed 1000 homeless, or give to the poor. Accept Jesus as your savior, repent, and try as best you can to live a christ-like lifestyle.

I know - We get so overwhelmed with 'DOING' God's work, that we forget the whole reason we are here in the first place. It's been so crammed down our throats that it's all about worship, missions, giving, serving, building churches...that we lose the fact of just simply pleasing God and being found acceptable by GOD...and not man.

I talk about this all the time to our team. God doesn't care how holy we act on Sunday morning if we aren't living the life outside those four walls. There are lots of people we sit by on Sunday that will be in hell when the day comes.

Exactly, he told us to change the world BY proclaiming the Gospel. Not by "find 2 people, this week and be a blessing to them. Find a way, ANY way, to effect change in their life." Being nice to people does not bring them to Christ. Otherwise buddhist, muslims and most other religions would be Christian. The only way to really change an individual is by doing what Christ says and proclaiming the Gospel.

I think we just think too hard about DOING God's will. "Let go and Let God!" God will do it with us or without us.

The point I am trying to communicate is that most churches are completely impotent when it comes to fulfilling the Great Commission or even the Great Commandment. Most of the members of this group currently attend a church that is not really doing ANYTHING for the community or for the kingdom. So, the idea of being part of a community of faith that is actually DOING something, is changing their minds and thoughts. I understand what you are saying, but there is more to the story that you know.

In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus told US to go into all the world and proclaim the Gospel. He told US to change the world. He told US that he would be with US. Believe me, it's not in MY power to do anything, but it's Christ through me who accomplished anything. Mark 10:27, which was part of our discussion time, says, "Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God." We have to do what Jesus told us to do. So, I have thought this through. But thank you for the accountability.

Why don't you sit down and think this through? You CAN and WILL change the world? Isn't Jesus God, and didn't he say that this kingdom is Satans', thereby acknowledging that he could not change the world, but you are proclaiming that you are going to be able to? Right...

hummm, you know where I am? Hiding from events and serving because I am afraid "Michelle" won't be allowed to attend because they need "Admin-Michelle" for questions or work. Not very kingdom-minded or christian like. This has come to my attention since 2/13. I can't wait until we meet and I can be a part of something special. Thank you John!

Unfortunately, i think that there are more "pukable" churches than we would like to admit. I think that people don't necessarily learn it from anywhere, I think that they naturally gravitate towards it. Through all the rules, poor leadership, failure to rely on God, and the traditions that we put before the Bible, it's just a natural outcome. I wold suggest that you read Pagan Christianity, but Frank Viola and George Barna. It talks about where our modern day church services, and everything within them, is derived from "mostly" pagan practices.

I can only answer for myself and work as hard as I can to make my church pleasing to God.
